Why Gallatin Properties Have Persistent Bird Problems

Gallatin's historic downtown square and the older commercial buildings along Main Street and Nashville Pike create ideal conditions for pigeon colonization. The brick facades, ornate cornices, recessed window ledges, and flat rooftops on these older structures offer exactly the kind of sheltered nesting and roosting sites that pigeons seek out. Downtown Gallatin property owners deal with droppings on storefronts, sidewalks, and signage that require constant cleaning — and the problem only gets worse without permanent exclusion.

Gallatin's rapid growth along the Highway 31E and Long Hollow Pike corridors has brought a wave of new retail centers, medical offices, and light industrial development that attracts pigeons and starlings to rooftops, loading docks, and HVAC equipment.
